Easter Vigil
This year for our Easter Vigil we went to New Melleray Abbey to celebrate the feast with our brother monks. The lighting of the Easter fire was done in the Chapter Room. Individual candles were lit from the newly lit Paschal Candle, representing the light of Christ. We then processed into the church with our candles. Sr. Kathleen and Br. Paul Andrew sang the Exultet. We then proceeded to our places and the tradition readings were read by the monks and nuns. This ended with the singing of the Gloria. After the Gospel was read we renewed our baptismal vows.
A group of sisters sang Sleepers Awake as a post Communion hymn.
The whole Vigil was reverent and beautiful, A proper celebration of Jesus Christ Risen from the dead.
